What is Yom Kippur?

REMEMBERING YOUR LOVED ONES

If you wish to have a loved one’s name included during memorial services on Yom Kippur, please provide information to the Temple office by Tuesday, October 8. Call us at (260) 744-4245 or email at office@templecav.org.

JOIN US FOR BREAK THE FAST HOSTED BY THE ROMEOS

The ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) are preparing a delicious break-the-fast meal for the congregation following both Reform and Conservative services on Saturday, October 12. Everyone is invited for tuna salad, egg salad, bagel, lox, herring in wine sauce, herring in sour cream, blintzes, fresh fruit and other delicacies.

Please make a reservation online or contact us at (260) 744-4245 by Tuesday, October 8 so that we can prepare enough food and seating. Thanks to the generosity of the ROMEOs, there is no charge. However, cash donations gladly will be accepted to help offset the costs.

Volunteers are needed to help with set ups and other tasks. Please contact the Temple office to offer your assistance. If you would like to sponsor the sweet wine for Kiddush, please let us know. Thank you to Denny Reynolds for organizing and the ROMEOs for hosting!

MACHZORIM ARE AVAILABLE TO BORROW

For those attending services online for the High Holy Days, we are making the Temple’s machzorim (holiday prayer books) available for congregants to borrow during the Days of Awe for both Reform and Conservative worship. Find out more

SUPPORT HIGH HOLY DAYS FOOD DRIVE WITH THANKSGIVING ITEMS

This year for the High Holy Days, we’re asking you to help those who need food assistance get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving. Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, which counts the Temple among its congregational faith partners, will provide all the fixings their clients need to enjoy a delicious holiday meal. And we can help!

Please take a paper grocery bag from the lobby on Rosh Hashanah and return it on Yom Kippur with the following items in cans or boxes:

Mashed potatoes, stuffing, mushroom soup, green beans, sweet potatoes, cake mix/frosting, gratin potatoes/scalloped, gravy, french fried onions

If shopping is not your thing, we accept checks! Write a check to “Wellspring Interfaith Social Services” for any amount you can donate, get it to Temple, and we will take all checks to Wellspring.

You can always make a direct donation at www.wellspringinterfaith.org.

Fill yourself with the holiday spirit and give what you can!

Thank you from the Social Action Committee!
