Violins and Hope Shabbat Service
21 Mar @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Rabbi Meir Bargeron will lead a special Shabbat service on Friday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Temple that combines traditional prayers, reflections, and songs with music performed by a string quartet on the Violins of Hope. Join us in person or on YouTube. All are welcome.
A festive Oneg Shabbat will follow hosted by the Violins and Hope Committee of the Jewish Federation of Fort Wayne.
“Violins and Hope: From the Holocaust to Symphony Hall” is a photographic exhibition of the violins and instrument workshop of Israeli luthier Amnon Weinstein, founder of the Violins of Hope project. Created by Cleveland photographer Daniel Levin, the exhibition is on display at the Rolland Art Center at the University of Saint Francis from March 11-23, 2025.
Each photograph has a rich back story. This beautiful series of photographs documents Weinstein’s collection of violins, his workshop in Tel Aviv, and his processes for restoration.
As part of the two-week commemoration of concerts, documentary film screenings, and events at various Fort Wayne locations relating to music and the Holocaust, the Temple is pleased to participate in a Jewish-Catholic Prayer Service on Thursday, March 20 and and to host a Shabbat service on Friday, March 21 with the Violins of Hope.
