Violins and Hope Interfaith Service at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church

20 Mar @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Rabbi Meir Bargeron will join Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend in a prayer service on Thursday, March 20 at 7 p.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (1502 E. Wallen Road, Fort Wayne) that focuses on the beauty of the Psalms, stories of Holocaust survivors, and the religious connections shared and revered by the Jewish people and Christians.

Music will feature the St. Vincent Choir, Purdue Fort Wayne University Singers, and a string quartet performing on the Violins of Hope. Selections common to Jewish and Christian faith traditions will be featured.

“Violins and Hope: From the Holocaust to Symphony Hall” is a photographic exhibition of the violins and instrument workshop of Israeli luthier Amnon Weinstein, founder of the Violins of Hope project. Created by Cleveland photographer Daniel Levin, the exhibition is on display at the Rolland Art Center at the University of Saint Francis from March 11-23, 2025.

Each photograph has a rich back story. This beautiful series of photographs documents Weinstein’s collection of violins, his workshop in Tel Aviv, and his processes for restoration.

As part of the two-week commemoration of concerts, documentary film screenings, and events at various Fort Wayne locations relating to music and the Holocaust, the Temple is pleased to participate in a Jewish-Catholic Prayer Service on Thursday, March 20 and and to host a Shabbat service on Friday, March 21 with the Violins of Hope.
