Learn With A Torah Scribe
02 May @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Explore the age-old process of writing, repairing, and caring for a Torah on Tuesday, May 2 from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Temple when we welcome Rabbi Moshe Druin, President of Sofer on Site International. in our first event of the 175th anniversary season.
Please join us for this memorable opportunity for all ages to learn from Rabbi Druin, a sofer (Torah scribe), about some of the complex laws governing the writing of the 304,805 Hebrew letters that comprise a Torah. Learn about the quill, ink, and tools he uses to maintain a sacred scroll according to ancient traditions.
His visit to Fort Wayne is part of Achduth Vesholom’s Torah restoration efforts. In addition to working on some of the Temple’s 12 scrolls, Rabbi Druin will repair a Torah that will be donated later this year to Goldman Union Camp Institute in honor of our 175th anniversary.
Thank you to the Dr. Harry W. Salon Foundation and Carol & Larry Adelman for their support of Rabbi Druin’s visit.
