Join Us For the Temple's Annual Meeting

176TH (2)

Temple members will be asked to approve a revised proposal to update the bylaws that govern our congregation at the Temple’s 176th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 5 at 7 p.m., with the option to attend in person or via Zoom.

Materials outlining the important new changes were sent by email to members in mid-May, along with an online absentee ballot to encourage early voting. Printed information and ballots will be sent by U.S. mail to congregants without email addresses.

Changes to the bylaws must be approved by at least two-thirds of the members who are eligible to vote. An earlier bylaws proposal was considered at a special congregational meeting in March, but it failed to pass due to low turnout despite overwhelming support from those who voted.

The proposed modifications to the bylaws were prompted by the implementation in the past year of a partnership model of operation and the need to give the board more flexibility, particularly in financial matters. The structural change creates new efficiencies and greater opportunities for strategic planning to better serve our members.

In addition to the bylaws, members will also vote on candidates for leadership and the budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. Members in good standing will be able to vote in person, in real-time via Zoom, or by absentee online ballot.

During the meeting, President Ronnie Greenberg, the Board of Directors, Rabbi Meir Bargeron, and Executive Director Samara Sheray will review the past year’s activities, including our 175th Anniversary season of events and progress on the construction of a stormwater pump station by the city on our property.

Members are invited to stay after the business meeting to watch a special 30-minute video highlighting the story of our congregation since 1848, which was first shown in November during the Temple’s 175th anniversary weekend.

In addition, the annual meeting will include recognition of outgoing Board members Juli Dominguez and Brian Rosman for their service and members of the L’dor Vador Legacy Society for indicating they’ve made a planned gift to the congregation.

To be eligible to vote, members must be current in their financial obligations to the congregation. All absentee ballots must be returned prior to the Annual Meeting.
