Zionism: A Jewish Conversation Across Time

Wednesday, Feburary 11 at 7 p.m. on Zoom

Zionism is often spoken about as a modern political movement, but it is also a much older Jewish conversation about peoplehood, land, longing, power, and responsibility. Join Rabbi Meir as we explore Zionism through a guided journey across traditional, historic, and modern Jewish texts, asking how different generations of Jews understood the relationship between the Jewish people and the Land of Israel, and why those ideas continue to matter today.

Together, we will consider:

  • How the Torah frames land, covenant, and moral purpose
  • How Jews sustained a relationship to Zion during centuries of exile
  • Why modern Zionism emerged in response to emancipation and antisemitism

This session is designed to be text-based, accessible, and thoughtful, welcoming a range of perspectives and questions. No prior knowledge is required—only curiosity and a willingness to engage with Jewish sources honestly and respectfully.

Whether you feel deeply connected to Zionism, conflicted by it, or simply want a clearer grounding in Jewish texts and history, we will share space to learn, reflect, and wrestle together.

A zoom link will be provided in the weekly email to our Temple family.
