Hunger doesn’t stop because there is a virus or because a building is closed. As the Jewish community’s Thoughtful Thursdays program begins its 11th year, we have a new normal. Due to the uncertainty of when we will be able to safely gather again, we have decided to assemble boxes of provisions for two months for each of our 72 Brightpoint Head Start families to start the school year.
Despite our volunteers not being able to gather in person, we hope to prepare our first box of provisions for the families with your help by Saturday, August 15.
If you want to make a box(es), we will provide the container and are happy to reimburse you for the cost of the items. If you are able to sponsor a box(es), please send donations to: “CAV-The Temple” earmarked for Thoughtful Thursdays for $20 per box.
We modeled our boxes after Fort Wayne United’s TenPoint coalition food distribution program. Each box should contain the following items which will fit in the provided box.
1 lb. of spaghetti noodles 2 boxes of Mac & Cheese
1 can of pasta sauce 2 packets of cheddar & broccoli rice
5 packs of ramen noodles 2 packets of chicken flavored rice
2 cans of chicken 1 packet of 6-8 peanut butter crackers
2 cans of corn 1 box of cereal bars
2 cans of green beans
2 cans of fruit in its own juice
1 box brown sugar oatmeal packets
If you are interested in making a box, contact the Temple office at (260) 744-4245 or email@example.com for more information.
Please keep your receipts because we will need them in order to reimburse you.
