          Erik Larson, author of the recent bestseller In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror and an American Family in Hitler’s Berlin, will be the featured speaker at the Fort Wayne Jewish Federation’s annual People of the Book lecture on Thursday, May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the Temple.

            In the Garden of Beasts recounts the experiences of William E. Dodd, A Chicago history professor who was appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt to be America’s first ambassador to Nazi Germany, and his family, including an adult son and daughter. 

He also is the author of The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic and Madness at the Fair That Changed America, Thunderstruck and Isaac’s Storm.

The People of the Book lecture is sponsored by the Federation with support from the Dr. Harry W. Salon Foundation and the Louis and Anne Schneider Foundation.
