HOW DO OTHER FAITHS CELEBRATE THE SABBATH?

A panel of local clergy will join us on Friday, October 19 at the Temple to discuss Sabbath observance in their various faiths. The discussion will follow an abbreviated Shabbat service led by Rabbi Lenny at 7 p.m. as part of programming in conjunction with “The Seventh Day: Shabbat Revisited” traveling art exhibit.

Among those joining us will be:

  • Pastor Debra Meuter from Gethsemane Lutheran Church
  • Ferril Sorenson from the Fort Wayne Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
  • Rev. Misty-Dawn Shelly from the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Fort Wayne
  • Imam Hamzah Sharif from the Islamic Center of Fort Wayne
  • Rev. Doctor Timothy C. Murphy from Plymouth Congregational Church (United Church of Christ)
  • Rabbi Lenny Sarko from Congregation Achduth Vesholom

We’ll be joined by members of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, who also plan to view the "The Seventh Day: Revisiting Shabbat" art exhibit that runs through November in the Social Hall. Thank you to Rabbi Lenny for coordinating the panel of guests. Please join us!
