Please join us for our first Temple Book Club of the new year on Tuesday, October 30 at 7 p.m. in the Madge Rothschild Resource Center. We’ll discuss Enchanted Islands
by Allison Amend and e-visit with the author about her book.
Set during World War II, the book is inspired by the memoirs of Frances Conway, and takes a fairly ordinary Jewish woman from Minnesota to the Galapagos Islands. A review in the Chicago Tribune calls the story “a many-faceted jewel. It’s a spy thriller, a survivalist memoir, and a portrait of a marriage.”
Please RSVP to (260) 744-4245 by Friday, October 26.
We hope you’ll join us on two additional Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the Madge Rothschild Resource Center for these book club meetings:
· February 5 - We will discuss Dirty Wars and Polished Silver with author Lynda Schuster. A memoir of the author’s life as a foreign correspondent and the wife of a U.S. Ambassador, Kirkus calls it “A riveting international thriller...A page-turner thanks to lucid writing and thrilling storytelling.”
· May 7 – We’ll explore Sabra Waldfogel’s Sister of Mine. This Civil War novel featuring two daughters of a southern Jewish planter – one black and one white – should make for a fascinating discussion.
