Steve Walley, the Temple’s Music Specialist, is a member of IPFW’s music faculty and the worship music staff at St. Joseph UMC on Reed Road. He previously served as chairman of piano studies at the Fort Wayne Bible College, as well as working as a teacher, writer and performer.
A native of Oak Park, Illinois, Steve grew up in a musical family and majored in music composition at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. After finishing his coursework, he spent the early 1970s in the church music field and published works for choir, piano, and orchestra. In the late 1970s, he traveled throughout Europe performing with The Sojourners, a group based near Villach, Austria, and known for performing entire concerts in the languages of the countries they visited.
He later received his master’s degree in Intercultural Studies at Wheaton Grad School in Wheaton, Illinois, and then worked as a studio musician and composing/arranging music in various styles. He also worked at Karnes Music Company in Chicago.
