About Us

Congregation Achduth Vesholom traces its roots to 1848, distinguishing us as the oldest Jewish congregation in Indiana. Since its founding, the Temple has resided in four locations. Our current facility on Old Mill Road became our home in 1961.

We invite you to get acquainted with our storyour building and our beautiful artwork. We've also got a strategic plan for the future. Please consider becoming a member. Get acquainted with our leadership.

Our learning programs provide a stimulating arena where Jews can learn about their heritage and where views on important topical issues can be shared. One of the best parts of being a Temple member is the fellowship offered through worship, education and social events. One of our goals is to try to make everyone feel comfortable at the Temple. We participate in mitzvah programs, interfaith programming and outreach efforts. Our focus on children and teens includes religious school, youth group, family education and b’nei mitzvah training.

The Stories Beyond Our Walls

In an effort to better document Temple history, we’re collecting stories about the people represented on the yahrzeit plaques on our walls. Nat Zweig is gathering memories spanning the time period of our earliest members to the present. Please contact the Temple office at 744-4245 or office@TempleCAV.org to share your story or send a paragraph or two about your loved ones (even if there's not a memorial plaque) to the Temple at 5200 Old Mill Road, Fort Wayne, 46807. We’re interested in connections to our congregation and stories about the Temple.
